The Future of Jamaica

Jamaica is an island nation of the Greater Antilles, 145 miles in length and as much as 50 miles in width.   It is large by comparison to other Caribbean islands – 2nd only in size to Cuba to the North, and Hispanola to the East -the island that is home to the 2 nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

It’s no secret that the Jamaican people have had a lot to deal with over the past few years.  They have issues with government, with poverty, with crime, with health, and with living tough lives on a day to day basis, and many of them depend on tourism as their sole means of survival and income.

The popular Jamaican motto, especially with the tourists is ‘No Problem,’ and they mean it sincerely.  Despite the hardships of island life, the Jamaican population as a whole manages to remain optimistic and friendly, which is one of the reasons why Jamaica is such a popular tourist destination.
